Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) at the middle school level prepares students to begin their journey toward becoming independent, productive citizens. The FCS middle school curriculum includes three units of study that are essential for ALL students:

• Nutrition and Wellness
• Textiles
FCS program at the middle school is based on curriculum and instruction standards that incorporate:
• student-centered curriculum that emphasizes hands-on involvement;
• practical problem solving skills in developmentally appropriate real-life applications;
• learning environments designed to meet developmental needs of all students; and,
• our Middle School’s educational goals for all learners.

An extended period of time that concentrastes on preparing healthy breakfast foods, including an at-home breakfast probject. An emphasis is on nutrition. |

Grade 8 |
Develop consumerism skills; explore skills needed to make wise consumer decisions and manage money successfully. |
Use knowledge of healthy food choices to prepare a variety of meals. |
Participate in a variery of community outreach projects including quilts for kids, blankets for the homeless and the ConKerr pillowcase project |
