Foreign Language in the Elementary Schools

Lesson 1: Animal Actors
In this lesson, students will expand their knowledge of animals to include pets. This is a lesson that involves lots of movement and TPR (total physical response). It also includes a review of body parts. Mnemonic devices are used to help students remember vocabulary words.

Lesson 2: Animals on Your Head!
In this lesson, students will expand their knowledge of animals to include some domestic animals. This is a lesson that involves lots of movement through TPR (total physical response). It also includes a review of body parts. Mnemonic devices are used to help students remember vocabulary words.

Lesson3: Hidden Animals
This lesson builds on the last lesson, expanding the students’ vocabulary of pets to include a frog and a turtle. This lesson provides students with oral practice of all the pets learned. Strategies for internalizing the vocabulary words are utilized through pistas (mnemonic clues to remember the words) and TPR (movement for each vocabulary).

Lesson 4: It Was The Rabbit!
This lesson builds on the last couple of lessons, expanding the students’ vocabulary of pets to include a snake. This lesson provides students with oral practice of all the pets learned. Strategies for internalizing the vocabulary words are utilized through pistas (mnemonic clues to remember the words) and TPR (movement for each vocabulary).

Lesson 5: Do You Have A Pet?
This lesson includes a drawing and writing activity to culminate the mini-unit on pets. This lesson provides students with oral practice of all the pets learned. In this lesson the students will be exposed to the spelling of the animals that they have been learning.

Arañas

This slide presentation is designed for students to listen to the sound made by letter “ñ”. They will hear the word “araña” repeatedly in several contexts.
